About Us

Membership comes with its benefits.

The best place in Newaygo County to do your banking, isn’t a bank.

Credit unions are member-owned, not-for-profit, cooperative financial institutions.  They are formed for the purpose of encouraging savings by offering a fair return, using those savings to make loans at competitively low interest rates, and to provide other financial services.  This cooperative focus allows for reasonable pricing of such services while remaining fiscally responsible. Because credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives, they can operate solely to meet the needs of their members.

Gerber Federal Credit Union was founded in 1950, and today provides financial services to residents and employees of Newaygo County and surrounding townships.  Individuals and businesses are eligible for membership with Gerber Federal Credit Union if you live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in: Newaygo County, Michigan, or the following portions of Muskegon County, Michigan: Cedar Creek Township; Moorland Township; Casnovia Township; Holton Township; or the following portions of Oceana County, Michigan: Newfield Township; or Greenwood Township.

You can also join if you are the spouse of a person who has died while within the field of membership of this credit union, or if someone in your immediate family (spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, grandchild, stepchild, or adopted child of the eligible primary member) or household is eligible for membership, and organizations of such persons.

Our promise is to satisfy member financial needs through competitive products and services and friendly, well-trained, caring employees applying the latest technology.  Gerber FCU membership is yours for a lifetime, regardless of retirement or changes in employment or residence.

To open a membership, please bring an unexpired government issued ID, Social Security number and at least $5.00.  This $5.00 will secure your ‘ownership’ in the credit union and will remain for the life of your account.  To save time, call ahead to make an appointment at (231) 924-4880.
