FREMONT, Mich. (6/15/19) Gerber Federal Credit Union (Gerber FCU) is pleased to announce that Lori Little, Vice President of Operations, recently graduated from the Southeast CUNA Management School (SRCUS).  Graduation from SRCUS is recognized throughout the credit union industry as a prestigious mark of achievement.  Over the course of this three-year program, Little received advanced academic instruction on a variety of topics including management, leadership, and financial analysis.  Successful completion of the program also required that Lori apply the knowledge she gained from the on-site sessions to projects that required strategic analysis of the credit union and research of relevant issues facing the credit union industry.

Following the first year, Little completed a two part strategic planning activity which analyzed Gerber FCU.  The first part is a detailed description of the current status of Gerber FCU, the last five years financials, and an analysis of our major competitors.  The second part uses the information obtained in the first part to develop specific short-term and long-term goals and action plans that describe how to reach those goals.   During the third year Little participated in a group research project and developed a 20+ page whitepaper containing current research, analyses, and proposed solutions for an issue affecting the credit union industry or an opportunity/decision that many credit unions are currently facing or will face in the future.  Her team’s white paper titled ‘Lending on the Go’ received an award for the ‘Best 3rd Year White Paper’!  The group also presented to their peers on this topic, sharing the insights they had learned.

“During my 27 years at the Credit Union I have grown and learned so much on so many different levels both professionally and personally. The expanded knowledge I obtained from CUNA Management School provided me with a much deeper foundational understanding of all aspects of credit unions and especially Gerber FCU, which I know will serve me well in the coming years,” said Little.

Little started at Gerber FCU while in High School.  She left and returned a few times while finding her career path.  She has been employed full-time at the credit union since 1992. She started as a Teller, moved into Computer Operations,  became the I.S. Manager and finally the Vice President of Operations in 2006.  She has a passion for helping members and truly lives the credit union philosophy.
